What did I do to deserve this?

April 5, 2011

It might be theft of council property but I feel it’s snubbing the hard rubbish gods NOT to take a box of 62 (sixty-two! Two and sixty!) flippin’ awesome jazz and blues records when they are offered to you early one morning.

Given my slavish devotion to the Gods o’ Junk, who am I to reject such benevolence? Besides, Herbie Mann looks like he’d slit my throat if I’m not suitably thankful.

  1. SCORE!!!

  2. Suh-weeeeeet!!!!!!!

  3. That is quite the haul. Excellento!

  4. Also, on the subject of thieving from council: I read that article too, and as the current custodian of a coffee table, three chairs, a fan, a collection of small Greek coffee cups, four plates, one sewing machine, an iMac, a trellis, and a garden bench, all gleaned from folks’ tossings-out, I was suitably appalled. I decided I’d best temporarily suspend my curb-thieving ways, but then I watched the people across the road toss out a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a desk, which were collected by a council truck, bang, crash, crunch, crunch, crunch, and I decided something along the lines of bugger it.

    • Oh I completely agree. Somehow I doubt the council workers would have put the records gingerly at the top of the truck, like you balance the box of eggs at the top of the grocery shopping, then exchanged them for money to buy shoes for orphans. Those LPs would have been smashed to smithereens.
